Summit Focuses on Supporting West Virginia Troops and Families
A summit titled "CARE-NET: Caring Beyond the Yellow Ribbon" was held at the First United Methodist Church in Elkins, West Virginia September 14, 2007. The Summit was hosted by Tyrand Cooperative Ministries, Inc.
The purpose of the summit was to educate the community, military family members, and the Tyrand staff of the resources available for military members and their families. A second purpose was to identify issues that Tyrand Ministries currently do not offer to implement them in the near future and to enhance current programs to meet the needs of the military members and their families before, during and after deployment.
Presenters at the summit were Chaplain Ryan Waggers, Chaplain, Clarksburg Veteran Medical Center, and local military family members. The summit was well attended, and provided information and strategies to assist Tyrand in providing assistance to military members and their families through local community and faith-based resources.
